Christmas Presents

12/12/2012

Gosh Im actually so excited about Christmas this year! I've managed to find some really cool presents, that are made locally, handcrafted, and some that will just BLOW the socks off my recipients of said presents. I am making my own little gift basket to give my friends, and THIS is the thing im MOST excited about, I thought about waiting till after Christmas to post this, but seriously Im way too excited, and my friends all know me well enough to know that they're probably going to get something like this anyways.

So now I guess you'll have to see whether your on the "friends" list or not! lol

WRAPPING PAPER - Im using newspaper and ribbon this year, it came to me in a dream (Im not kidding, I dreamt up a really cool way to wrap presents have it look chic and artistic and environment friendly - its not like it hasnt been done before, but I think my little take on it, and the colours are very cool hehhe)

Pretty paper, and GOOD for environment too!
Ok so whats in The Farmers Daughter Gift Basket??

-A homemade tree slab, for serving, which still has all its tree edges, and is conditioned with Grape seed oil (organic of course!)
- homemade Kefir (good for your helping to digest all those treats)
- homemade kombucha (good for cleansing after Christmas and New Years)
- homemade vanilla extract (just plain good for everything)
- raw clover local honey
- raw sesame flax organic crackers (homemade)
- raw butter (homemade)
- raw organic homemade cheese - brie
- Sugarless flourless Brownies - SOOO YUMMY!! (or raw chocolates)
- homemade pink BUBBLE BATH in a wine bottle!

All of course with a little note describing everything, and where its from and how to use and care for each of it.

This is a labour of love - I've enjoyed every moment of making these and Im not done yet, there is more work to be done... To me this is the spirit of Christmas, yes its alot of work, but the JOY that it gives me throughout the PROCESS is all worth it for me! I dont feel obligated to do it, but I really want to, and that is where the fun is in it for me!

I hope all my friends enjoy these gifts as much as I've enjoyed making them!

CHEESE for EVERYONE!!! (Vlog 2)

I came to realize as of late that its the LEARNING of how to do things that excites me! I like the new ness, the possibility that ALL could go wrong, that at least I'll know how NOT to do it! I hover over recipes and research instructions and the of course because Im unconventional I ALWAYS find a way to do exactly what they said you shouldnt do, or do it on a budget, or do it with stuff from my farm, or organic, or with no grain, or in SOME way leave my Farmers Daughter Trademark. So this is me and cheese... people who know me, know how long I've been talking about this day, and it finally came on an unsuspecting rainy COLD December day. The cheese now sits in my fridge as it ages properly and hopefully grows that lovely white fuzzy stuff on the edge, I dont think I have the proper humidity in my fridge (I am taking old wine fridges that people are finished with, so I can properly set the humidity and temperature in it lol).... but seriously if you know of anyone.

I hope you enjoy this video even a fraction of how much fun it was to make the cheese. I hope to do more of this.... stay tuned, I'll probably make you feel like a complete champion because I'll even show you my total screw ups! lol

hugs
