Speech for March Against Monsanto
Hello, my name is Melissa I’m also The Farmer’s Daughter – make that The ORGANIC farmer’s daughter.
I wanna tell you a little story – once upon a time it was safe to eat the food in the grocery store! (ok maybe its not really a story). I say that because I know we are all here today working towards a world we want to live in and feel GOOD about living in.
I want to see a world that how decisions are made regarding OUR food be BACK in the power of those who are EATING the food.
We can make everyone else wrong, in the end we’re all going what we think is right – I have to believe in humanity enough to think that.
So what sort of world do WE want. Nobody else is going to bring about that world except for US.
We vote for a world we want to be in every time we buy a chicken that was fed GMO corn from Zehrs because we just didn’t have enough time,
we vote for a world we want to be in everytime we consume a product that was preserved with GMO soyabean oil or soy lecithin,
we vote for a world we want to be in every time we drink milk from cows that have been fed GM corn.
We vote for a world we want to be in everytime we eat at most restaurants.

It is TOTALLY inconvenient to make a stand for a world we DO want, and everytime we do it -even when its unpopular or too expensive or too far to drive, or you have to buy a freezer or, or, or or… we show our friends and our family JUST how important it is.

I don’t know about you but I feel like a broken record sometimes around people who aren’t so “committed”, well lets stop spewing at them, and lets just start demonstrating, days like these are so important to make a stand for what we want, but what ELSE did you do today to march forward into a world you want to be in?

I’m going to post on twitter and facebook every day starting today what Im going to do today to make a step forward for a world I want, I hope you join me at the Farmer’s daughter on facebook and @afarmdaughter on twitter hashtag #dailyact4GMOfree
