Think about an average family's grocery bill - on average a family of 4 will spend 200.00 per week on food.
Think about a family who is food conscious, constantly running around gathering apples from here, and meat from here and eggs from here.. Its almost a full time job to eat locally, eat organically, and eat micro nutrient dense.
Now how do we make it easier for people, without compromising on the "straight from the farm" concept, how do we engage families into their food and how its raised again? Because isn't that the key to sustainable agriculture, knowledge, and ownership.
The project
Gather small farmers, pay them fairly, pay a chef, in an inspected kitchen to process soups and dried foods, condiments, cheese and butter, put up a green house to have greens all year round
Essentially create a farm membership program that provides 90% of their grocery needs on a weekly or bi-weekly basis
For the relatively the SAME as what they are paying for groceries right now!
The customers will know where their food comes from - they will work for 2 weekends per year on the farm
they will have a say in how the food is raised
The model can be duplicated as more families want to participate
NEED:
Funding for winter storage for vegetables, for greenhouse for inspected kitchen for first years salary for chef, salary for a manager for manage the sales and the details of the operation
Approximately 235,000 worth of funding
If you have any connections or are well versed in fundraising or models such as this please feel free to contact me I'd love to hear from you
